Too Sweet?

I joined RichSugarDaddies.co.uk

Because... Well, why not? I guess it intrigued me, the extent an older male will go to, trying (and in most cases failing) to woo a young lady. The results were surprisingly quite sad, in the sense that there were many men trying to contact me. Not many of whom seemed quite cut out for the dating scene.

For example:

So, let me just show you the picture I've been using.

Now, I'm sure Neil is a really nice guy. However, he clearly isn't the most intelligent of men if he thinks that that is a dog.

I also received a message from a very lovely looking lady. This surprised me a little, as having requested quite clearly that I only wanted contact from males, seeing this fine woman appearing in my inbox was a bit odd.

At least, that was until I took a closer look at Joanna's picture...

That's what alternative lifestyle meant.

There were many replies, and I did enjoy the diversity of messages, ranging from the somewhat sweet to the downright creepy:

I like how it can vary from pointing out the merits of having a canine companion to the unusual syntax of a "hey to you sexy women". Positively charming.

Alas, the sugar daddies shall be left alone by me. For now at least.

The Sober Truth: Part 4

Previous to this there was another part which you could read here: Part 3

Caroline didn't realise how much she'd missed this. Just sitting, chatting, laughing. The alcohol had managed to ease the awkward barrier and now she was talking away without feeling the need to mask her life. She didn't care if she sounded like a complete failure, because honestly it sounded like they all were. None of them had achieved what they had all so foolishly planned in their younger years.

So it wasn't too much of a surprise when Caroline followed Paul to his bedroom. The familiarity of it all brought Caroline some form of comfort she hadn't experienced in a while. They had left Sarah and Rob talking, well, touching one another in an extremely unsubtle manner. The roughness of his hand surprised Caroline as it guided her unceremoniously to his room. Had they always been so weathered? For a brief moment Caroline was worried she had come to the wrong flat and that this man who was now sprawled out across the bed was in fact an imposter. But then the all too familiar scent of Dettol hit her again. Christ, even the bedding was still the same.

Caroline briefly paused to finish the wine, and leaving the glass on the sideboard, turned to move towards the bed. Paul, laying in just his boxers, started to move his hands slowly down his chest. Bloody hell. Even his underwear was the same as before, Caroline thought, the same unmistakable little Mexican faces smiling back at her, dressed in little ponchos and surrounded by cacti. However the pattern was distorted somewhat. Stretched. Paul looked up at Caroline, their eyes meeting. He smiled cheekily, as his eyes drifted downwards towards himself. Looking back up at her, his head tilted to the side, he asked "So why are you not naked...?" Good question. And Caroline's response was very eagerly received by Paul.

True

It's like it's necessary,
to share such thoughts,
even if we don't deem them true.
And I'm sorry.
But I probably don't feel the same,
unless you're lying too.

Escapism

It's when you become so absorbed in a film, that idea of escapism, the fact nothing else matters at that moment in time. That's what I love about going to the movies. You don't have to think or worry about anything else other than what is happening right in front of you. A good film allows you to unwind in forms other types of media can't normally create.

However, much like Tom's feelings in "The Glass Menagerie",

People go to the movies instead of moving. Hollywood characters are supposed to have all the adventures for everybody in America, while everybody in America sits in a dark room and watches them have them.”

Yes, there's a certain amount of escapism that people are allowed. My point is there's far too much dreaming and little doing. If you want to explore, don't just live your life through the high speed dramas or cute romantic comedies in the hope that it will one day just happen to you. Go out and find adventure. Live.
