Santorini

Santorini is a truly gorgeous place. I recommend it highly. I spent the week there with my boyfriend, and I have only good things to say about it. We even grew to love our somewhat precarious quad, which we fondly nicknamed the 'Dangermobile'. It was truly a thing of roaring beauty, a whole 80cc or pure power, reaching perilous speeds of 32 mph. I must admit, I miss it even now. I may even miss getting chased by the guard dog on the port as we came rattling by on the Dangermobile. I do enjoy keeping all my limbs, however.

Fresh fish is abundant on the island. And definitely worth having. That was our staple food in the whole of our Santorini diets. That and a Mythos beer. Delicious.

My advice if visiting the island, is stay away from the views if you want to eat at a reasonable price, sure it's pretty, but just delve a little away from the sunset scene and you'll find food just as good (if not better) without having to pay a premium. Or, stay away from Fira, and you can eat pretty well and still have the beautiful and famous Santorini sunset.

Visit the volcano. Because you kinda have to. It's also a good idea to not wear flip flops, but 'walking' shoes aren't really a must. You'd get by just fine without. Took us about 30 minutes to get to the peak of the volcano, and it's pretty cool learning about the desert climate Santorini has, and a bit of the history of the caldera whilst on the tour. Go to the hot springs as well. Rub the mud on you. Don't be too annoyed if your swimming attire gets a bit discoloured. It'll wash out on a 60°C wash. And it's well worth it.

Do hire a vehicle. You're a tad restricted if not. You can find the best beaches by just exploring a little down a few dusty roads that'll appear like they're taking you to nowhere. Enjoy it.

I had the best time there, and I do hope that one day I can return to such a perfect little island.
