Life in Fiction (Part 5)

Read Part 4 here.

She wondered if her Nan would mind her bringing home a strange elderly gentleman. Immediately Kath regretted her decision. Of course she would mind. What kind of grandmother would actually enjoy their sixteen year old granddaughter coming home with an old man they had just met? Especially one which they knew nothing about. Not even a name.

Too late for that though, as she had already opened the front door, with the key that had a small cat keychain attached. You see, Kath really wasn't opposed to cats, despite being a "dog person". Plus, she had won this at the arcades from the two pence machines. She liked it because it was missing a paw.

"Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan" Kath cried out, chucking her bags in the corridor as she searched for signs of her Nan.

"We don't have any naans but there's poppadoms near the cupboard if you're hungry" Nanny Beth replied, walking into the conservatory from the garden. She removed her gloves and set them on the side, before turning to pour a glass of water from the sink.

"Also who is this man?" she asked, nodding towards the gentleman that Kath had decided to invite over.

"Allow me to introduce myself, dear lady"  the Answer bowed, taking Beth's hand and planting a kiss upon it. "I do so appreciate you allowing me into such a wondrous home". He grinned.

Beth finished her water and just smiled.

"Can you cut that lark out please." Kath gestured to her nan's hand. "Otherwise I will have to return you to the bus you came from. Like, honestly, my Nan has a girlfriend, you know". Kath scolded the man beside her, whilst Beth laughed to herself.

The End of an Era

I have finished university.

Done.

I mean, until graduation... which is bound to be an experience. It has certainly been an interesting journey. The relief is very real. At least, until the prospect of applying for graduate jobs dawns. I feel I may have skipped that process for a while, at least.

Here's to the future.
