2013: What Occurred

First, allow me to get the obligatory statement out the way: Happy New Year!

Right, now that's done. I would like to say thank you to everyone who has made this year, the delightful 2013, special to me.

To make this even more cliche, I'd like to say what a crazy year it's been. Full of many an up and down.

I unfortunately lost a very, very special man to a horrible, horrible disease. He was the best Grandad and he will never be forgotten.

But, yes, I am fortunate to have all the good things in my life surpass the bad.  I have a wonderfully strong Mother. I got me some decent A-levels. I got into the university I had hoped, studying a subject I find fascinating. I was very lucky to have an amazing summer with the most delicious friends. Reading 2013 shall not be forgotten easily.

So, yes. Bring it on 2014. Adventures await.

Dancing Along the Edges of Paedophilia

It's a concept that some of you will be familiar with, and I've no doubt that a few people may find it a tad odd. But it's had some pretty sound evidence as to why it's an actual thing. So please, allow me to enlighten you with some delightful information.

Neoteny, is, basically, looking a lot younger than you are even when you're all grown up and such. It is described as "the retention of juvenile characteristics into adulthood". And apparently some people really dig that look. You could say it's almost... well, paedophilic?

Not particularly. Much as it is going for someone based on the fact they look a bit like a child. It's the reason why the male population may find themselves attracted to women with less hair, higher pitched voices, a larger head to body ratio, and being that bit more slender. Of course, there's exceptions to this rule. And yes, there are men who obviously prefer the more voluptuous type. In fact, you would think that's the norm. Don't all men want a woman with a great rack?

Well, yes. But also... sort of... no.

Just think of the Japanese (or... lots of East Asians to be fair), neoteny isn't just about these physical attributes which could be described as being a little bit child-like.It's also the personality, the resistance, it would seem, to want to grow up. However we can't be living in a Peter Pan fairytale forever. Much as these sort of characters would probably love to:

You only need to search "kawaii" in tumblr and you're bombarded with these lovely young women. Although this craving for youth is more predominant in Asian cultures, Western folk have their own role in it too. Also, just think about the potential categories you can browse on any porn site. There's no doubt that somewhere along the way, "High School" "Young Teen" or an array of skirted young bodies will appear. And is this sexual attraction to neotenous features to blame? Or is it not just inevitable? After all, biologically speaking, younger women are more fertile. There's nothing wrong with wanting to procreate and continue with your reproductive right. Spread your seed and advance the gene pool, by all means.

But where do we draw the line?

There's a hazy shade of grey between what is just a bit of fun, and what is inherently considered quite perverted. This can mean that although the porn industry is providing material where women (although being of legal age) are portrayed as extremely young, they are still seen as sexually desirable. Just where does this lead to attraction in real life? Does it lead to paedophilic tendencies? Is it not wrong to crave a "school girl" as shown in pornography- or is it just a bit of grown up role play? After all, (not talking about the atrocity that is child porn) these people are all consenting adults. Why shouldn't we get to indulge in a bit of fantasy?

Anywho, I think I'm doing it right:

The only reason men might be attracted to me. Being tiny.
